The first time you visit Strolling.com you will either accept an ActiveX control or install a plug-in, depending on your browser. This is a once only procedure. Since accepting the ActiveX control is the simpler of the two options, we recommend you browse the site with Internet Explorer if you have it on your system. Mac users must use Internet Explorer.
NAVIGATING
The Maps
Maps contain links to the views and to adjacent maps. The views are either 180° giving a
half circle range of vision, or 360° views giving all round vision.
The 180° views are shown by these symbols
, which indicate the approximate direction and range of the view.
The 360° views are shown by this symbol
.
Arrows
serve as links to adjacent local maps.
The Views
You can move around a view in any direction by clicking on it and keeping the mouse button
pressed as you move the cursor.
Downloading
Each view loads in "waves" of progressive sharpness. Let each view load fully so
that it's cached properly on your hard disk in case you come back to it.
Downloading the ActiveX control
When you start to download your first image the ActiveX control will also start to
download, and after 30 seconds or so a certificate will appear. Click Yes.
With some versions of Internet Explorer you
may need to set your security level to Medium.
Here's how:
Click on View on the top of your screen. On the drop-down menu click on Options...
Then click on Security. Then click on Safety Level...
Then click on Medium.
